Liang Tsong Taï's Thought of Making Medicine for Benefiting Mankind from the Perspective of Guiqian TheoryAbstract:Liang Tsong Taï returned to Baise in his middle age and began to turn from poetry to herbal medicine. He developed herbal remedies, such as Lusu Tincture and Ning Shen, and distributed these medicines free of charge to save lives.By the theory of literary Guiqian theory,Liang Tsong Taï's approach to both reclusive and pharmaceutical medicine reflects a broader philosophical perspective aimed at helping the world. This medical turn reveals its roots in poetry, transcending mere literary expression to embody a profound humanistic concern. For Liang Tsong Taï,poetry and medicine share a common origin, influenced not only by his father's teachings on poetry and herbal medicine but also by the spirit of Chinese humanism and the harmony between heaven and earth. Moreover, poetry and medicine follow a similar path, both striving for survival in a chaotic world.Literature seeks to save the nation through ideological emancipation, while medicine aims to save the people through industrial development.Ultimately, poetry and medicine also share a common joy, which vividly reflects Liang Tsong Taï's state of happiness in his later years.Liang Tsong Taï's poetry and medicine, which reflect the Chinese humanistic tradition that views poetry and medicine as originating from the same source, remind us that even in today's era of specialized disciplines, anthropology, literature, and medicine remain interconnected.

Integration of Traditional Chinese Aesthetic Thoughts into Aesthetic Education in Medical Colleges and UniversitiesAbstract:The traditional Chinese aesthetic thought, influenced by Confucian and Taoist philosophies, results in two major characteristics, namely the Confucianism-stimulated moral emotions and the Taoism-based philosophical understanding of life itself. Both moral emotions and the philosophical understanding of life are important significance for medical practitioners.Different from other natural sciences, medicine deals with living beings, while a prominent issue exists in contemporary medicine, that is,the inevitable neglect of life itself due to a mechanistic understanding of humans. Therefore, this article reveals the philosophical and aesthetic roots of contemporary doctor-patient relationship issues through a review of traditional Chinese aesthetic thought, along with an analysis of the essential role of Chinese aesthetics in medical education, followed by proposing approaches for integrating Chinese aesthetics into the aesthetic education of medical schools,in an aim to provide theoretical references and countermeasure suggestions for tackling the humanistic dilemmas in contemporary healthcare.
Bibliotherapy and the Pharmacology of FictionAbstract:In this contribution,I want to read the famous scene in the Odyssey(book 8)in which the epic's hero is confronted at the court of the Phaeacians by a story of his own life as a primal scene of bibliotherapy.Taking my cue from earlier readings of the scene by Hannah Arendt and Adriana Cavarero,I want to relate Odysseus'response to the stories that are sung to him with the French philosopher Bernard Stiegler's concept of pharmacological thinking.Pharmacology,in Stiegler's view is a way of thinking that takes into account the simultaneously positive and negative effects of a phenomenon. In our specific case:while literature can work as medicine,it can also poison your mind.

Enlightenment of Confucius'"Good Learning"Concept on Traditional Chinese Medicine EducationAbstract:In the practice of modern Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)education,a"cultural aphasia"is prevalent, manifesting as an emphasis on technical skills over the humanities,a lack of student autonomy, and a disregard for the philosophical depth of the classics.Tracing this to its source reveals deviated educational goals, entrenched cognitive models, and a deficiency in cultural confidence. In this context,Confucius's concept of the"love of learning"provides an invaluable frame of reference.Centered on"learning for oneself",this concept advocates for cultivating virtue, comprehending the natural law, integrating thought with practice, and tailoring teaching to the student. The value orientation of this philosophy can effectively recalibrate current educational objectives and reinforce physician ethics. Its cosmological view helps reshape cultural identity and deepen the holistic thinking central to TCM.Furthermore, its pedagogical methods offer an effective path to connect theory with practice and stimulate students'intrinsic motivation.Drawing from Confucian wisdom can powerfully propel TCM education back to its humanistic and cultural foundations, opening a new direction for cultivating"Great Physicians"who are masters of both the Dao and medical techniques, guided by benevolent hearts and skillful hands, thus ensuring the inheritance of the cultural treasure that is TCM.

Exploring the Integration Pathways between"45-Degree Youth"and Medical Humanities EducationAbstract:In an era marked by dramatic social shifts and a fragmented value system,the"45-Degree Youth"has emerged as a metaphor for a generation suspended between aspiration and anchoring—becoming a concentrated reflection of contemporary spiritual fissures.Medical students, within the domain of medical education, exemplify this phenomenon with striking clarity:delayed professional identity formation, emotional underdevelopment, and a rupture in the sense of meaning.Using the"45-Degree Youth"as an analytical entry point, this paper examines its concrete manifestations and structural causes among medical students. It argues that the current over-technologization of medical education, coupled with an imbalance between scientific and humanistic dimensions, significantly contributes to the spiritual dislocation experienced by students. In response, the paper advocates for medical humanities education to serve as a vital mechanism for value guidance and subjectivity formation.By enhancing the capacity for spiritual embedding, emotional resonance, and ethical reconstruction,it seeks to construct a developmental pathway for medical students—from psychological suspension to grounded maturity.Through a focus on teacher role transformation, curricular integration, campus culture cultivation, and individual psychological support, the study proposes an integrative approach to bridging medical humanities education and the inner world of youth—addressing both the historical mission of medical education and the lived dilemmas of a generation in flux.
Integrating Medical Humanism into Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training in Simulation Medical EducationAbstract:Cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR)is the core intervention for cardiac arrest, and standardized practice directly influences survival. This article explores the integration of humanistic care into CPR simulation training.Drawing on common technical complications, communication challenges, and advances in simulation-based education,we propose a training framework that combines humanistic elements in skill practice,high-fidelity emotional scenarios, and structured communication strategies.Literature review indicates that embedding humanistic care in CPR training improves empathy, enhances communication, and increases family satisfaction with the resuscitation process.Emphasizing humanistic care also enables medical teams to better explain risks and provide consistent communication when resuscitation fails. This study aims to offer practical guidance for advancing CPR simulation education and promoting more harmonious doctor-patient relationships.
