Abstract：Nature Science Society of China was an important comprehensive scientific association during the Republican period,closely connected with the Shanghai Medical College.Professor Su Delong joined the association while still a student and became deeply involved in the editorial work of its journal The Science World.In the journal,he published popular science articles,answered readers'questions,and he gradually came to recognize the importance of science popularization.To some extent,his experience with Nature Science Society of China influenced his academic choices,leading him to uphold the principle of addressing practical needs and to strive,through medical research,to eliminate diseases as far as practicable.
