Exploration and Application of Professor WANG Huiwu's Academic Thought on"Mind-Spirit-The Guiding Channel"as a Renowned Traditional Chinese Medicine Expert in China

Abstract:The heart is the master of the five internal organs and six viscera.Professor WANG Huiwu has conducted in-depth research on the classic theory of the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon, combined with decades of clinical practice experience, and innovatively developed the academic thought of"mind and spirit guiding the way",systematically expounding the core position and pathological mechanism of the"heart"in human health. This idea emphasizes that maintaining health requires two major conditions:"understanding"and"making the way clear".If the obstruction of the Dao is caused by insufficient innate endowment, improper postnatal care,or obstruction of evil qi,many diseases and syndromes resulting from it belong to the category of"heart disease".Professor WANG Huiwu divides"heart disease"into neurological, emotional, and bloodline diseases, advocating the principle of"communication"as the treatment principle:neurological diseases focus on"treating annoyance"and are treated based on the differentiation of deficiency heat and excess heat;emotional disorders are based on the viewpoint of"prolonged illness leads to depression"and"depression is a heart disease",emphasizing the importance of"resolving depression through communication";For blood related diseases, prevention is emphasized, and interventions are carried out based on the pathological types of chest obstruction, dizziness, stroke, etc. In clinical treatment, the concept of equal emphasis on traditional Chinese medicine and non pharmacological therapies should be upheld, and multiple pathways should be used to promote rehabilitation by unblocking the meridians. This theory has established a new framework for the diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses, and has demonstrated unique value in both theoretical research and clinical practice.

Overview of Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment of Phlegm and Stasis Syndrome after Percutaneous Ccoronary Intervention
[Journal Article]WANG Huanliang, CHEN Shichuan, ZHANG Hui et al.-Journal of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine on Chronic Diseases2025, No.03

Abstract:Percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)effectively restores coronary blood flow and alleviates symptoms such as chest pain;however,it still carries a high risk of postoperative adverse cardiovascular events. This is primarily due to unresolved phlegm-dampness,which leads to persistent and even intensified issues of blood stasis and phlegm turbidity during the postoperative period.Current traditional Western medical methods have achieved some efficacy in treating conditions after PCI,yet the underlying etiology and pathological products remain inadequately addressed. In contrast, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has shown significant efficacy in managing adverse symptoms after PCI.TCM proposes a series of targeted therapeutic strategies based on its unique principle of evidence-based treatment. This article focuses on the phlegm-stasis syndrome commonly occurring in patients after PCI,analyzing the theoretical basis of TCM treatment and its practical application.

Exploring the Relationship Between Circadian Rhythm and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome(PCOS)from the Perspective of the"Ziwu Liuzhu"(Midnight-Noon Ebb-Flow)Theory and Its Therapeutic Implications

Abstract:Polycystic Ovary Syndrome(PCOS)is a common endocrine and metabolic disorder among women of reproductive age, characterized by ovulatory dysfunction, hyperandrogenism, and insulin resistance. Its pathogenesis is closely linked to genetic predisposition, environmental factors, and circadian rhythm disruption.Modern medical research indicates that PCOS has a complex and multifaceted etiology involving genetic susceptibility, environmental influences, and disturbances in biological rhythms. From the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),the"Ziwu Liuzhu"(Midnight-Noon and Ebb-Flow Doctrine)theory profoundly elucidates the intrinsic connection between the body's Qi-blood circulation and the natural day-night rhythm. This theory posits that the flow of Qi and blood in the twelve primary meridians follows a cyclical pattern of waxing and waning throughout the twelve two-hour periods of the day, synchronizing with the natural rise and decline of Yin and Yang. The pathological basis of PCOS is associated with kidney essence deficiency, spleen deficiency with phlegm-dampness,and liver Qi stagnation. These pathological changes ultimately lead to dysfunction in the"Kidney-Tian Gui-Chong Ren-Uterus"reproductive axis, manifesting as typical symptoms such as menstrual irregularities and infertility.Modern molecular biology research provides scientific support for these traditional theories.Studies have confirmed that clock genes(such as BMAL1 and PER2)regulate reproductive endocrine function via the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal(HPG)axis.Disruptions in circadian rhythms can exacerbate glucose and lipid metabolism disorders, obesity, and hyperandrogenism in PCOS patients.

Traditional Chinese Medicine's Multidimensional Management of Postmenopausal Osteoporosis

Abstract:Postmenopausal osteoporosis(PMOP)is a bone metabolism disorder caused by a decrease in estrogen levels in menopausal women, characterized by decreased bone density, microstructural damage, and increased bone fragility.Although modern medical drugs, such as hormone replacement therapy, have significant therapeutic effects in improving bone metabolism indicators,long-term use may lead to adverse reactions and higher treatment costs.Based on the traditional Chinese medicine theories of"kidney governs bone and generates marrow"and"spleen governs transportation and transformation",traditional Chinese medicine has demonstrated unique advantages in the prevention and treatment of PMOP through multidimensional strategies such as drug intervention, non drug therapy, and lifestyle management.Systematically combed the basic research mechanism and clinical application results, combined with classical theory and modern practice, the mechanism of Chinese medicine regulating bone metabolism signal pathway, acupuncture and moxibustion improving bone microenvironment, and Chinese medicine fumigation promoting local circulation was emphatically explained.Ultimately,a comprehensive intervention strategy integrating traditional Chinese medicine formulas, physical therapy, and exercise lifestyle management is proposed to provide a more comprehensive and scientific theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of PMOP with traditional Chinese medicine.

Discussion on the Prevention and Treatment of Colorectal Cancer Based on the Six Meridians Dialectical Theory in the Treatise on Febrile Diseases

Abstract:Colorectal cancer,as a common malignant tumor,is closely related to the imbalance of the internal and external environment of the human body in its occurrence and development. This article is based on the theory of six meridians differentiation in the classic Chinese medicine"Treatise on Cold Damage",and explores in depth the prevention and treatment strategies for colorectal cancer. From the perspective of the differentiation of the six meridians, the formation of colorectal cancer is not only related to the invasion of external pathogens and the imbalance of the internal environment caused by the transmission of the six meridians, but also closely related to pathological mechanisms such as muscle and pulse congestion, blood stasis and internal structure,as well as the generation of pathogenic heat and obstruction of organ qi.In addition, cold heat cementation and endogenous dampness are also important pathogenic factors that cannot be ignored. In treatment, emphasis should be placed on warming yang and strengthening the body to prevent the spread of diseases. At the same time,it is necessary to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis to facilitate ventilation, clear heat and eliminate accumulation to unblock the organs and qi,and restore the balance of the body by regulating cold and heat and clearing the three burners. This prevention and treatment strategy for colorectal cancer based on the differentiation of six meridians embodies the holistic concept and characteristic of traditional Chinese medicine, and is expected to provide new treatment ideas and methods for modern medicine.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of directional seton placement using a disposable fistula cutting and ligation device in the treatment of adenogenic ischiorectal space abscess. Methods A prospective randomized controlled study was conducted.Ninety patients with adenogenic ischiorectal space abscess admitted to The Third Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine(Liaoning Provincial Anorectal Hospital)between July 2024 and February 2025 were selected and randomly divided into two groups based on the odd or even number of their visit numbers, with 45 patients in each group. The treatment group underwent directional seton placement using the disposable fistula cutting and ligation device, while the control group received conventional incision and seton treatment. The clinical outcomes(total effective rate),false healing rate, operation time, postoperative wound healing time, and Wexner incontinence scores were observed and compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate was 100%(45/45)in the treatment group and 91.1%(41/45)in the control group, with no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).The false healing rate in the treatment group(4.4%)was significantly lower than that in the control group(22.2%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The operation time in the treatment group was significantly shorter than that in the control group(P<0.05).The postoperative wound healing time in the treatment group was shorter than that in the control group, but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).The postoperative Wexner incontinence score in the treatment group was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Directional seton placement using the disposable fistula cutting and ligation device for adenogenic ischiorectal space abscess demonstrates definite clinical efficacy while effectively preserving anal function. This method offers advantages such as convenience, minimal invasiveness, and a low false healing rate.By reducing tissue damage through minimized trauma, and lowering the false healing rate via precise lesion management and adequate drainage,it fundamentally shortens recovery time and reduces hospital stay.Furthermore,it enhances treatment efficiency by simplifying procedural steps, saving operation time for both surgeons and patients, and reducing surgical difficulty, demonstrating comprehensive advantages in clinical practice.

Exploration of the Application of Diuretic and Dampness-Dispersing Herbs in the Treatment of Osteoporosis

Abstract:Osteoporosis(OP)is a skeletal system disease that primarily affects middle-aged and elderly individuals. Its main characteristics are reduced bone density and bone destruction, which can easily lead to fractures and movement disorders. The pathogenesis of this disease is an imbalance between bone formation and bone resorption, falling under the category of"Gu Wei"(bone paralysis)in traditional Chinese medicine. The underlying mechanism can be summarized as deficiency in the spleen and kidney, blood stasis, phlegm stagnation, and qi stagnation.Data mining analysis has revealed that diuretic and dampness-resolving herbs appear frequently in effective prescriptions for treating OP.Therefore, based on the pathogenesis of osteoporosis, this article explores the significance of combining diuretic and dampness-resolving herbs. The study finds that these herbs have the following effects in treating osteoporosis:nourishing without stagnation to prevent being nourishing and greasy;replenishing deficiency and eliminating excess to enhance the treatment of paralysis;regulating both blood and water to promote diuresis and activate blood circulation;promoting diuresis and resolving phlegm to eliminate dampness and turbidity;promoting qi circulation to assist in the transformation of body fluid;and replenishing yang and promoting yang to treat both the body and mind.Additionally, this article discusses the modern pharmacological effects of diuretic and dampness-resolving herbs in treating OP,clarifying their dual efficacy of promoting bone formation and inhibiting bone resorption, thus providing a theoretical basis for the clinical application of these herbs in treating osteoporosis.

Exploring the Comorbid Mechanism of Paravertebral Sarcopenia and Osteoporotic Vertebral Compression Fractures Based on the Theory of"Disease in the Spleen Manifestation in the Spine"

Abstract:Osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture(OVCF)and paraspinal muscle atrophy are two common spinal diseases that affect the health of elderly people.Clinical observations have found a comorbidity between paraspinal muscle atrophy and OVCF,and the two may interact and be mutually causal.Research suggests that these two diseases may have similar pathogenesis and pathological processes. There are various treatment options for OVCF,but there is currently no optimal treatment plan.Paravertebral muscle atrophy is the main manifestation of sarcopenia in the spinal region, and there is currently no effective drug treatment for sarcopenia.Traditional Chinese Medicine classifies OVCF and sarcopenia into categories such as"lower back pain","muscle weakness",and"fatigue",and has a deep understanding of their interrelationships. The phrase'disease in the spleen,Yu in the spine'succinctly summarizes the state of muscle bone comorbidity, believing that spleen kidney deficiency is its common pathological basis, spleen disease transmission to the kidneys is an important mechanism for the onset of OVCF,and tonifying the spleen and kidneys is the basic principle of treatment.

Exploring the Key Pathogenesis of Chronic Subdural Hematoma Based on the Theory of Essence Deficiency and Collateral Damage

Abstract:Chronic subdural hematoma(CSDH)is a high incidence nervous system disease in the elderly. Its incidence rate increases significantly with age,and the incidence rate of people over 70 years old reaches 76.5~127.1 million. The traditional view is that CSDH is mainly caused by ruptured bridging veins due to head trauma, but about 30%to 50%of patients have no clear history of trauma, indicating that aging and related vascular degenerative diseases play a central role in the pathogenesis.According to traditional Chinese medicine theory, kidney essence is the material basis of life activities, mainly responsible for growth and development,as well as the filling of the marrow sea.During the aging process, the kidney essence gradually decreases, the qi and blood flow are insufficient, and the marrow sea is not nourished, resulting in the loss of brain collaterals, weak absorption, and blood overflowing outside the veins to form hematomas. At the same time, depletion of kidney essence can lead to qi stagnation and blood stasis, internal generation of phlegm turbidity, and further damage to collaterals, forming a vicious cycle of"deficiency stasis damage".This article is based on the theory of"essence deficiency and collateral damage"in traditional Chinese medicine, and systematically explores the impact of kidney essence deficiency and its resulting collateral damage on CSDH during the aging process. It proposes that the onset of CSDH may be the result of the combined effects of aging-related kidney essence deficiency and collateral damage. At the same time, starting from the integrated traditional Chinese medicine treatment strategy of tonifying the kidney and nourishing essence, removing blood stasis, and solidifying collaterals,a new approach has been provided for the prevention and treatment of elderly CSDH by regulating vascular homeostasis and inhibiting pathological leakage.

Professor GU Song's Experience in Treating Cold and Wet are Combined with Qi

Abstract:The dampness that does not dissolve in the spleen and the cold that frequently affects the stomach often accumulate, leading to the development of cold dampness syndrome. The spleen and stomach are the hub for regulating the body's qi system. When cold and dampness are stagnant, the qi system becomes blocked, which in turn affects other organs and leads to complex complications.Cold dampness and qi stagnation syndrome is a common complication in the treatment of cold dampness syndrome, which is a composite disease syndrome formed by the combination of cold dampness and qi stagnation. The traditional divide and treat model often leads to poor therapeutic effects due to neglecting the interaction between the two.Professor Gu Song believes that this syndrome has both the characteristics of cold dampness causing damage to yang and cold dampness causing disease and consuming qi,as well as the inability to distribute body fluids due to the long-term mixing of cold dampness, resulting in"yin deficiency".Based on Professor Gu Song's clinical experience, the concept of"Cold Dampness Stagnation Qi Syndrome"was systematically proposed for the first time.Based on the theory of"Stagnation Qi"in the"Synopsis of Jin Kui",Li Dongyuan's warming method and the four reverse dispersing method were integrated to create the Warm Middle Flowing Qi Drink.Professor Gu Song pays attention to the diagnosis and treatment of symptoms and causes, with mutual reference between pulse and syndrome. He follows the treatment principles of pungent herbs dispersing stagnation, warming and dispelling cold, flexibly tailoring his own formula, and has repeatedly achieved good results.Through three typical medical cases, this article elaborates on the key points of syndrome differentiation, prescription and medication,as well as clinical experience,in order to provide a reference for the diagnosis and treatment of cold dampness combined with qi stagnation diseases.

Exploring the Traditional Chinese Medicine Pathogenesis and Treatment Approach of Insomnia Based on the Principle of"Yang not Entering Yin"

Abstract:Traditional Chinese medicine refers to insomnia as"insomnia",which is a sleep disorder caused by problems with sleep time or sleep quality.Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the core pathogenesis of insomnia is"yang not entering yin",which means that the yang energy in the body is difficult to enter the yin division normally, leading to yin-yang imbalance. This article focuses on the theory of"yang does not enter yin"and explores the pathogenesis and treatment strategies of insomnia in traditional Chinese medicine.Through a comprehensive analysis of the pathogenic factors, pathological mechanisms, and traditional Chinese medicine treatment plans of insomnia, this article elaborates on the methods of syndrome differentiation and treatment of insomnia from the perspectives of disharmony between yin and yang, imbalance between yin and yang, and emotional disorders.Given the crucial role of the"yang does not enter yin"theory in the treatment of insomnia in traditional Chinese medicine,we are committed to exploring multiple perspectives of TCM insomnia treatment strategies,in order to explore new ideas for clinical treatment, improve treatment effectiveness, and effectively improve patients'sleep quality.

Research Progress on the Mechanism of Cistanche Glycosides in the Prevention and Treatment of Parkinson's Disease

Abstract:Parkinson's disease(PD)is a common progressive neurodegenerative disease, characterized by motor symptoms such as reduced movement, muscle rigidity, and tremors,as well as non motor symptoms such as decreased sense of smell, sleep disorders, and cognitive impairment. It seriously affects the quality of life of patients. The complex pathogenesis of PD poses significant challenges in clinical practice, including the inability to make a clear diagnosis in the early stages and difficulty in controlling symptoms in the later stages.Furthermore, there is currently no treatment that can slow down the progression of neurodegenerative diseases.Drug development targeting the pathogenesis may become a means of preventing and treating PD.Cistanche deserticola,a plant of the Ledanceae family,is one of the precious medicinal herbs commonly used in clinical practice.Glycosides of Cistanche(GCs)are its main active ingredients, which have a wide range of pharmacological activities and exert neuroprotective effects on PD.Therefore, this article provides a systematic review of the pathogenesis of PD and the mechanism of action of GCs in preventing and treating PD,providing a theoretical basis and basis for the prevention and treatment of PD or other neurodegenerative diseases with traditional Chinese and Mongolian medicine.

Research Progress on Risk Factors for Diabetic Kidney Disease

Abstract:Diabetic kidney disease(DKD),one of the common microvascular complications of diabetes mellitus, not only seriously endangers patients'physical and mental health but also increases the societal healthcare burden.Multiple risk factors influence the occurrence and progression of DKD through different mechanisms.Among these, factors such as blood glucose, blood pressure, blood lipids, uric acid, and vitamin deficiencies are modifiable, while gender, disease duration, and age are non-modifiable.Therefore,early identification of the risk factors for DKD,implementing intensive treatment and lifestyle adjustments for modifiable factors, and paying closer attention to non-modifiable factors can effectively reduce its incidence and mortality risk. This article aims to clarify the risk factors for DKD onset and provide new insights for the prevention and treatment of the disease.

Exploring the Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment of Herpes Zoster Neuralgia Based on the Theory of"Latent Toxins Damaging Collaterals"

Abstract:Herpes zoster is caused by the reactivation of the varicella-zoster virus, which lies dormant in the dorsal root ganglia or cranial nerve ganglia, leading to skin and nerve damage. It is characterized primarily by pain, which is often persistent and difficult to alleviate.Integrating the"theory of latent toxins"and the"theory of collateral disease",this paper proposes that"latent toxins damaging collaterals"is the core pathogenesis of herpes zoster neuralgia."Latent toxins"originate from hidden pathogens and virulent toxins, referring to the varicella-zoster virus that remains dormant in the body and becomes activated when the body's Zhengqi(vital energy)is deficient or triggered by external factors."Collateral disease"aligns with the pattern of"chronic illness entering the collaterals",where pathogenic toxins block the fine and tortuous collaterals, leading to the mutual binding of phlegm and blood stasis. This triggers a vicious cycle of"latent toxins remaining in the collaterals, collaterals damaged, inability to expel pathogens, worsening pathogenic toxins".Based on this core pathogenesis, the fundamental treatment principles of"expelling pathogens"and"unblocking collaterals"are established. For expelling pathogens, patients with wind-toxin invasion are treated with modified Chuanxiong Chatiao San to dispel wind and detoxify, while those with heat-toxin invasion are treated with modified Huodan Fang to clear heat and activate blood circulation. For unblocking collaterals, formulas such as Taohong Siwu Tang are selected for syndromes of qi stagnation and blood stasis to promote blood circulation and remove stasis. For syndromes of qi deficiency and blood stasis,Buyang Huanwu Tang is used to tonify qi and unblock collaterals. In cases of severe pathogenic toxins,insect-based medicines such as scorpion and centipede can be added to search and eliminate toxins from the collaterals.External treatments, including surrounding acupuncture with fine needles, bloodletting puncture, and fire needle therapy, can be combined to enhance efficacy by dredging meridians and expelling pathogenic toxins.Clinical case verification has shown that the above syndrome differentiation and treatment protocol can effectively alleviate pain, promote skin lesion healing, improve sleep and emotional states, and reduce the incidence of postherpetic neuralgia(PHN).This study enriches the clinical connotation of the theory of"latent toxins damaging collaterals"and provides a systematic Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment approach for herpes zoster neuralgia, offering significant reference value for improving clinical efficacy.
