Application of PCMC teaching mode combined with multimedia courseware in dermatology and venerology teachingAbstract:Objective To explore a new way to improve the clinical ability of medical students by administrating the problem-originated clinical medical curriculum (PCMC) mode in combination with multimedia courseware in dermatology and venerology teaching. Methods Four classes in grade 2012, including 108 undergraduates of clinical medicine, were randomly selected and assigned in a 1:1 ratio into two groups which received PCMC teaching mode in combination with multimedia courseware or traditional mode, and both of the two groups were educated by the same teachers. At the end of the courses, tests of clinical abilities and theory were taken to evaluate the improvement of the students. Questionnaires were also used to investigate the students' acceptance of the two teaching modes. Results In the PCMC teaching group, the average score of clinical ability test was 91.9 points, significantly higher than 78.7 points of the traditional group(P<0.05), whereas, there was no significant difference of the theory test between the 2 groups. Student satisfaction survey results showed that the PCMC group(82.7%) was higher than that of the traditional group(75%) with no significant difference(P>0.05). Conclusion Application of PCMC teaching mode in combination with multimedia courseware is conducive to students' understand of the abstract theory knowledge in dermatology teaching process, and may fully mobilize the students' learning initiative.

The etiology and therapy of prurigo nodularis:a reviewAbstract:Prurigo nodularis is a kind of chronic and recurrent nodular lesion with acute itching. Current researches suggested that nerve and immune factors played important roles in the onset of the disease. Obvious hyperplasia of nervous tissue was found in the skin lesion as well as a variety of neural peptides (e.g. substance P, calcitonin gene related peptide). At the same time, the disease was related to psychological factors, infection factors and some systemic diseases. The speciifc etiology and pathological mechanism still need further research. For the treatment, there are a variety of ways of treatments such as local external use, local injection, oral administration and physical therapy and so on. In order to obtain satisfactory curative effect, combined treatment of two or more ways is used in clinical.

Correlation between the three kinds of common hair loss diseases, sleep quality and emotional factorsAbstract:Objective To investigate the correlation between physiological alopecia, androgenetic alopecia, alopecia areata and sleep quality and emotional factors. Methods Patients from the outpatient dermatology of Daping Hospital from August 2011 to August 2012 diagnosed as physiological alopecia, androgenetic alopecia, alopecia areata and healthy collators were assessed by the pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) and self rating anxiety scale (SAS). Results The total score of PSQI and SAS gradually increased with age in all the three kinds of hair loss and the normal control, which showed a statistically signiifcant difference between the different age groups (P<0.01). Alopecia areata score greater than 7 implied the problem of sleep disorder. Among the seven components of PSQI, three kinds of hair loss groups and the normal control had following differences;the quality of sleep, sleep time, sleep efifciency and sleep disorders in the youth group (15 to 29 years old) were different(P<0.01);the sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep disorders and daytime dysfunction in the middle-aged group (30 to 44 years old) were different (P<0.05);the sleep time, sleep efifciency and sleep disorders in the older-aged group (>45 years old) had differences (P<0.05). SAS score of alopecia areata and androgenetic alopecia in the youth group were higher than the national norm of China. Female patients had a greater inlfuence than male in PSQI and SAS. The pearson product moment related analysis (r=0.487, P=0.000) indicated that sleep quality and anxiety situation positively related. Conclusion Hair loss diseases, especially alopecia areata was affected by sleep quality and mental factors, so it is important to restore the good life habit and adjust emotion to prevent the onset of alopecia areata.
