Inhibitory activity of Chinese nutgall to caries in animal experiments

Abstract:AIM: To investigate the effect of chinese nutgall on growth of the streptococcus mutans and caries development in rats. METHODS: The rats were infected with streptococcus mutans. They were fed with cariogenic forage 2000# and administered with chinese nutgall, NaF and distilled water. Observation of the effects of chinese nutgall effects on streptococcus mutans and caries development were based on the results of germiculture of saliva and Keyes scoring method. RESULT:The number of treptococcus mutans of chinese nutgall group is equal to that of the NaF group (P>0.05), but significantly less than the distilled water group (P<0.01). According to Keyes score, at E and Ds level the difference between the chinese nutgall group and distilled water group is significant (P<0.01). Difference between chinese nutgall and NaF group is no significance (P>0.05). Caries at Dm level are only found in the distilled water group. CONCLUSION: Chinese nutgall can inhibits the growth of streptococcus mutans and caries development. Its effect is as same as that of the NaF. The Chinese nutgall may becomes a new kind of anticarious medicine.

[Journal Article]JIA Yan, LI Xin-yue-Chinese Journal of Conservative Dentistry2018, No.06

Abstract:AIM:To investigate the effects of endodontic treatment and the selection of the rapeutic schemeon the periodontal regeneration of the severe combined periodontal endodontic lesions. METHODS:15 cases of severe combined periodontal endodontic lesions were divided into 3 groups(n=5):periodontal regeneration preopera-tive RCT group, periodontal regeneration half -year before RCT group and periodontal regeneration but none RCT group. The probing depth(PD),clinical attachment loss(CAL),tooth mobility(TM),periodontal bone density(BD) andmasticatory function(MF)were measured before, half and 1 year after treatment, respectively. RESULTS:PD, CAL and BD of the preoperative RCT group was significantly improved half and 1 year after surgery(P<0.05).The postoperative RCT group showed no improvement half year after surgery, but 1 year after surgery was significantly im-proved (P<0.05). In the none RCT group, the indicators showed no statistically different compared with those before and after treatment(P>0.05). And all above clinical indicators of the preoperative RCT group and the postoperative RCT group were superior to those of none RCT group 1 year after operation (P<0.05). CONCLUSION:Endodontic treatment is beneficial for periodontal tissue regeneration of the severe combined periodontal endodontic lesions.

Cavity classification for CAD/CAM ceramic restorations in posterior teeth
[Journal Article]TIAN Yu, ZHANG Ya-qing, LYU Hai-peng et al.-Chinese Journal of Conservative Dentistry2016, No.10

Abstract:Toothdecayisthemostdominantdiseaseindentalclinics.Aimingtostopthedevelopmentof caries, reconstruct the morphology and recover the function of the tooth, direct and indirect restorations have been used as the treatment.Chairside CAD/CAMoperatingsystem has been demonstrated to simplify the procedure forproviding restora-tions,minimizing the chair time andproviding accurate and esthetically excellent ceramic restorations.Which makes it ac-cepted rapidly.Ceramic restorations with the advent of adhesive dentistry have gained clinical proof for their high success rates.Nevertheless, there is no well-accepted cavity classification method for CAD/CAM ceramic restorations.There-fore,in this paper, the ceramic restorationsin posterior teeth were classified as Inlay,Onlay,Full Crown,Endocrown,O-verlay,Occlusal Veneer,Endo-onlay and Endo-overlay.This modified classification will help dentists in clinical deci-sion-making when facing posterior tooth decays. Also,it will facilitate the clinical research and communication between clinicians.

A primary study of the effects of different oral care methods on periodontitis
[Journal Article]GAO Peng, YAO Ru, JING Yu-jie-Chinese Journal of Conservative Dentistry2018, No.04

Abstract:AIM:To study the effects of different oral care methods on the clinical indexes of periodontitis (CP). METHODS:60 cases with CP were divided into 3 groups(n=20),ornidazole+chlorhexidine(group A),per-oxide(group B) and saline(group C) were respectively used for the subjects as oral care in the groups. Before and after nursing treatment for 1 and 3 months probing depth(PD),plaque index(PLI),attachment lose(AL) and gingival crevic-ular fluid(GCF) of the subjects were measured, the content of matrix metalloproteinases3(MMP-3) in GCF were de-tected by ELISA. RESULTS:After nursing treatment, the level of PD,PLI,content of GCF and MMP-3 in GCF were significantly reduced(P<0.05) in group A and group B,the level of AL only reduced(P<0.05) in Group A 3 months after treatment. The content of GCF and MMP-3 in GCF were significantly reduced(P<0.05) in the same period in group A and group B. CONCLUSION:The best nursing treatment for CP is metronidazole+nitrofurazone.

Case definition of periodontitis:A review
[Journal Article]PEI Xi-yan, OUYANG Xiang-ying, HE Lu-Chinese Journal of Conservative Dentistry2015, No.01

Abstract:At present there are various case definitions of periodontitis. The lack of a universally accepted case definition is a major limiting factor in determining and comparing the prevalence of periodontitis among surveys. When analyzing the same data, different case definitions will lead to different prevalence rates of periodontitis. It is ur-gent to develop a broadly accepted standard case definition of periodontitis. The purpose of this study is to review the definitions of periodontitis in different surveys.
