[Journal Article]JIAO Li-ping, NIU Guang-liang-Chinese Journal of Geriatric Dentistry2018, No.03

Abstract:Objective:To compare the clinical efficacy of ultrasonic scaling and manual subgingival scaling 84 elderly patients with chronic periodontitis who were treated with basic periodontal therapy in our hospital were randomly divided into two groups after supragingival scaling.Group A was treated with manual subgingival curettage (group A) and group B with ultrasonic subgingival curettage (group B).Periodontal examination records were recorded before treatment and 6 weeks,3 months and 6 months after treatment in both groups, and the changes ofPD,BI,AL and PLI were observed and the results were analyzed. Results:the periodontal index of the two groups improved significantly before and after treatment (P<0.05),and there was no significant difference in periodontal index between the two groups (P>0.05).Conclusion:there is no significant difference in the clinical effect of Ultrasonic scalingin the treatment of the elderly chronic periodontitis and subgingival scaling.
