Application of artificial intelligence in diagnostic pathology

Abstract：Digital pathology (DP) is increasingly applied in cancer diagnosis, providing new tools for faster, higher quality, and more accurate diagnosis. The practice of diagnostic pathology has undergone significant transformation, with new tools such as digital imaging, advanced artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, and computer-aided diagnosis technologies being used to assist, enhance, and empower computational histopathology and AI-driven diagnosis. This has paved the way for the development of precision oncology. AI tools provide a unique platform for innovation and progress in the workflow of anatomical pathology and clinical pathology. In this review, we describe the milestones and landmark studies of AI applications in clinical pathology and focus on future directions.
