Abstract:The calculation method for the anti-overturning design of bridges is clearly defined for the first time in the new edition of "Specifications for Design of Highway Reinforced Concrete and Prestressed Concrete Bridges and Culverts" JTG 3362-2018 (the new "Bridges Specifications").In this paper, the new "Bridges Specifications" is in-terpreted, and the failure characteristics of the bridge overturning are expounded. The 3×30 m continuous box girder is taken as an example to analyze the factors affecting the stability of the bridge , such as the arrangement of the sup-ports, the spacing of the supports, and the radius of the curve, etc.The conclusions are as follows: Under the same conditions, the overturning stability coefficient of the linear bridge is larger than that of the curved bridge , and with the gradual decrease of the radius of the curve , the anti-overturning stability coefficient of the curved bridge is also gradually reduced; the bearing spacing has the greatest influence on the bridge overturn calculation , and the overtur-ning stability coefficient increases significantly with the increase of the bearing spacing.
