Abstract:As climacteric fruits, rapid senescence is one of the important factor affects storage life and shelf life of the fruits and leads to quality breakdown and decay of Nanguo pear fruits after harvest .Nanguo pear fruits were used as materials to study the effects of postharvest BTH treatment on the fruit quality during storage .Com-mercial maturity fruits were harvested and dipped with 100 mg/L BTH to determine the treatment on weight loss , respiration rate and quality parameters .The results indicated that BTH treatment reduced weight loss of pear fruit during storage at room temperature , and significantly inhibited the increase of the fruit respiration intensity , but the treatment did not affect the peak time .In addition, BTH treatment also inhibited the increase of titratable acid content and decrease of flesh hardness .The content of ascorbic acid in the fruit was also induced by BTH treatment. All these results suggest that postharvest BTH treatment maintain the quality of Nanguo pear fruits by inhibiting respiration intensity and reducing the consumption of nutrients .
