Abstract:The airflow velocity and thrust force induced by surface dielectric barrier discharge plasma actua-tors with different encapsulated electrode widths are measured. The experimental results show that the actuator-induced maximum airflow velocity and thrust increase with the encapsulated electrode width when the width is narrow than 20 mm,however, the maximum airflow velocity and thrust force show no obvious change with the en-capsulated electrode width when the width is larger than 20 mm. This is mainly because the encapsulated elec-trode width affects the extension of the electrode field, which further affects the spatial distribution of plasma.
