Abstract:The maximum ionic wind velocity induced by dielectric barrier discharge actuators with different dielectric materials under different peak -peak voltages are measured, respectively. The experimental results show that, when the peak voltages are lower, the maximum wind velocity induced by the actuator with lower die-lectric constant material is lower than that by the actuator with higher dielectric constant material. However, as the peak voltage continues to increase, the induced maximum velocity by actuator with lower dielectric constant material is higher. This is mainly because a lower dielectric constant can allow operation of the actuator at higher voltage without giving rise to streamer formation.
