Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of minocycline hydrochloride sustained-release agent combined with Vitapex in the treatment of elderly patients with chronic periodontitis complicated with pulp lesions. Methods Totally 130 elderly patients with chronic periodontitis complicated with pulp lesions treated in our department of stomatology from July 2014 to December 2015 were selected as the research objects and they were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, with 65 cases in each group. The patients in the control group were treated with iodine glycerol combined with conventional root canal therapy, while the patients in the observation group were treated with minocycline hydrochloride ointment combined with Vitapex. The periodontal indexes, gingival crevicular fluid inflammatory factors and clinical efficacy and other indicators were compared between the two groups. Results The effective rate of observation group was 90.77%,which was significantly higher than 75.38% of the control group (x2=5.417,P < 0.05).The probing depth of periodontal pocket (PD),gingival index (GI),sulcular bleeding index (SBI),plaque index (PLI)and tooth mobility (TM)of periodontal pockets were significantly lower than those of the control group (P <0.05) and the levels of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α),high sensitive C reactive protein (hs-C RP) and interleukin4 (IL-4)in gingival crevicular fluid were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05).Conclusion The treatment of minocycline hydrochloride sustained-release agent combined with Vitapex is helpful to improve the clinical efficacy in elderly patients with chronic periodontitis complicated with pulp lesions, which may be related to improving periodontal symptoms and lowering the levels of inflammatory factors in gingival crevicular fluid.

A minimally invasive extraction and site preservation for molars with severe periodontal lesions——A case analysis
[Journal Article]XU Tao, HU Wen-jie, BI Xiao-cheng et al.-Chinese Journal of Practical Stomatology2018, No.01

Abstract:With the development of implant surgery, more and more dentists and patients restore the function and aesthetics of the edentulous area with implant restorations. The preservation and reconstruction of the alveolar ridge and the gingiva is a prerequisite for long-term success in the restoration of satisfactory functional and aesthetic effects. The molars with severe periodontal lesions were affected by many factors, which resulted in severe infection and alveolar bone absorption before removal. This paper presents a case of a molar with severe periodontal lesion, which was removed with periodontal traditional incision technique and minimally invasive extraction.By completely removal of the sockets infection, the surgery promotes the healing of follow-up site preservation, and achieved good clinical effect.

Application and progress of bone graft materials in implant dentistry
[Journal Article]HU Wen-jun, ZHU Jing-kai, MA Wei-Chinese Journal of Practical Stomatology2018, No.01

Abstract:In the recent years, various kinds of traditional and newly developed bone graft materials and surgical techniques have been widely used in oral and maxillofacial bone reconstruction, which has effectively solved the bone defect problems caused by the inflammation, trauma and tumor surgery. The usage of these surgical techniques and bone graft materials have broadened the indications and improved the clinical results of dental implant treatment. In this review,we will discuss the characteristics of the bone graft materials currently used in dental implant treatment, and review the application of autograft, allograft, xenograft and alloplast materials.A brief description of the research status and future prospect of the tissue engineering bone graft materials will also be presented.

Comparative study of orthodontic pain due to the application of the invisalign and Damon Q self-locking brackets in adult female patients
[Journal Article]LI Yan-zhao, TAN Jia-li, ZHENG Yu-ting et al.-Chinese Journal of Practical Stomatology2017, No.02

Abstract:Objective To compare the pain in adult female patients with the application of the invisalign and Damon Q self-locking brackets during initial orthodontic treatment. Methods Totally 81 orthodontic adult female patients were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups:44 patients in experimental group wore invisalign(R) aligners while 37 patients in control group wore Damon Q self-locking brackets appliances.VAS was used to evaluate the time of occurrence of pain and the degree of the pain at 2 h,4 h,8 h,24 h,2 d,3 d,4 d,5 d,6 d and 7 d after the orthodontic treatment.SF-MPQ was used to evaluate the nature of the pain and the incidence of ulcer. Results Totally 76 effective questionnaires had been collected, and no significant differences were demonstrated in the overall rates of occurrence or the degree of the pain in both groups within the observation period (P > 0.05),but the nature of the pain was different. The incidence rate of ulcer in experimental group was lower than in control group. Conclusion Basically there is pain in the patients who wear invisalign and Damon Q self-locking brackets for the first time, but the nature of the pain and the occurrence of ulcer have significant difference.
