Surge resulting from intercoolers of centrifugal air compressor and the methods of antisurge

Abstract：During centrifugal air compressor running, lower heat-exchanging ability of intercoolers of the compressor can cause an impeller to work in the surge area at first, and then the compressor unit into the surge area. After researching and testing, the reasons which cause the compressor surge are: 1) overhigher discharge pressure; 2) lower heat-exchanging ability of 1 and 2 stage intercoolers. And then, the solution is to depress the running of the system in summer. Under the design pressure of the system, the best solution is to reconstruct the intercoolers to improve their heat-exchanging ability.
