Abstract：The boronitriding layer has the specialities of high hardness, good wearing resi stance and corrosion protection, so the boronitriding is used widely now. By mea ns of Auger Electron Spectrum(AES), X\|rays diffraction, the composition and pha se structure of the boronitrided A3 steel and 20 steel are determined. These e xperimental results show that independent diffusion of carbon atom and nitrogen atom can produces the abundant area that can improves the layers strength in b oronitriding process.
