Abstract:As the third generation of solar cell technology, organic solar cells(OSCs)have been developing rapidly in recent years. The quinoxaline(Qx)unit, with the typical deep highest occupied molecular orbital(HOMO)level and good planarity, has become one of the important acceptor units for constructing organic photovoltaic materials.Currently, the power conversion efficiency(PCE)of Qx-based OSCs has exceeded 19%and exhibited excellent long-term stability. This paper summarizes the molecular design concept for constructing OSCs donor materials and acceptor materials based on Qx,as well as representative research progress in recent years. In particular, the relationship between the high PCE,stability, and structure of Qx-based organic photovoltaic materials is discussed, which provides a reference for a deeper understanding of the role of quinoxaline-based acceptor units in enhancing the performance of organic photovoltaic materials.
