Abstract:To address grid load balancing and mitigate wind power curtailment,a hybrid heating sys-tem combining air source heat pumps with water-based thermal storage is proposed.A simulation model was developed using TRNSYS software. With air source heat pump power, electric boiler pow-er,and thermal storage tank capacity as decision variables, and annual worth as the optimization ob-jective,this model was applied to optimize the configuration of the hybrid heat pump heating system at a thermal energy plant in Korla city. The results demonstrate that flat electricity prices significantly impact the optimal heat storage ratio for the hybrid system.Conversely, peak electricity prices exhibit minimal influence. For the studied case, the optimal heat storage ratio for a water-based storage ther-mal electric boiler system is 0.67.The optimal configuration for the hybrid air source heat pump heat-ing system is K=0.4(heat pump proportion)and Xk=0.5(thermal storage ratio).Considering cost efficiency, energy conservation, and environmental sustainability, the hybrid air source heat pump heating system with water-based thermal storage offers clear advantages.
