Abstract:Microplastics, considered an emerging environmental concern, are inadequately studied in terms of their distribution in river sediments. The sediments in the Yi River in urban section of Song County were selected as the research subject, and an investigation on the distribution characteristics of microplastics within the sediment was conducted through sample collection, density flotation,diges-tion,and Raman spectrum detection. The results indicated that the abundances of microplastics in sedimentsin this area exhibited ranging from 1 040 to 1 320 n/kg(measured based on dry weight),with an average abundance of 1 160 n/kg(dw).The microplastics primarily consisted of fragmented particles smaller than 1 mm,with transparent polyethylene terephthalate being the predominant com-ponent.The pollution status of microplastics in sediments in this area was at a moderate to high level and exhibited a strong correlation with anthropogenic activities.
