Abstract:Recent advances in the fabrication, functionalization and high temperature oxidation behavior of PDCs and PDC composites for application in industrial field are summarized.Recent studies on the formation, performances and oxidation behavior of PDCs and porous PDCs for industrial application will also be highlighted.Additionally, modifying the composition of polymer precursors has expanded their applications and the formation and oxidation mechanisms of PDCs are critical for their preparation and applications.Recently, the research on polymer derived ceramics (PDCs) has been of significant interest because of their application in high temperature.Particularly,PDCs are widely used as high temperature structural materials and tribological materials, which can be due to their excellent thermal stability, oxidation and corrosion resistance, good wear resistance as well.Controlled PDCs fabrication plays an important role in their performances.Different PDCs systems are produced via diverse fabrication techniques, such as chemical vapor infiltration (CVI),melt-infiltration (MI),precursor infiltration and pyrolysis (PIP),tape casting,sol-gel and hot press sintering.Especially, making efforts to explore PDC coating for application in high temperature is significant. The fabrication and performances of SiC coating are provided. Finally, the challenges and perspectives for the future development of protective PDC coatings are also provided.
