Abstract:This study compares the characteristics of location, morphology, structure, and function between traditional Chinese medicine's pericardium and modern medicine's epicardial fat, revealing their commonalities and exploring their relevance from the perspective of the 'reverse transmission to the pericardium' theory. The pericardium in traditional Chinese medicine is located outside the heart, playing a protective role for the heart and also capable of carrying out the heart's functions. Epicardial fat, as a special type of adipose tissue surrounding the heart, is closely related to the occurrence and development of various cardiovascular diseases.
