Abstract:This review summarizes the changes in atrial remodeling during atrial fibrillation and the research progress on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) treatment. Atrial fibrillation is the most common arrhythmia in clinical practice, with a high incidence and mortality rate. Electrical remodeling involving calcium ion homeostasis and ion channels, as well as structural remodeling such as atrial enlargement, myocardial interstitial fibrosis, and disruption of gap junction proteins, are key factors in the occurrence and persistence of atrial fibrillation. Improving atrial remodeling has become a core strategy in the treatment of atrial fibrillation. Although modern medicine has made some progress in treating atrial fibrillation, adverse reactions remain a concern. In contrast, TCM has emerged as a promising treatment option due to its multi-target effects, holistic regulation, and fewer side effects.
