Abstract:This review summarizes the role mechanism of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathway in myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI), and focuses on the research progress of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in treating MIRI from two aspects: single compounds of TCM and TCM prescriptions, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for the clinical application of TCM in preventing and treating MIRI. Clinically, reperfusion strategies are crucial for salvaging ischemic myocardial tissue, reducing infarct size, and preventing heart failure. However, after the restoration of coronary blood flow, MIRI may occur, which has complex pathophysiological mechanisms. Therefore, how to alleviate MIRI has become one of the urgent problems in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. MAPK is closely related to MIRI and plays a cardioprotective role by regulating inflammatory responses, oxidative stress, autophagy, apoptosis, and ferroptosis. TCM shows advantages of multi-component, multi-pathway, and multi-target in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, providing new ideas for alleviating MIRI.
