Abstract:Primary aldosteronism is a common syndrome characterized by renin-independent aldosterone production, leading to a series of pathophysiological changes and subsequently causing secondary hypertension and target organ complications. The prevalence of primary aldosteronism is high but the screening rate is low, so effective diagnostic strategies are urgently needed to enable early diagnosis and reduce cardiovascular and renal complications in patients. This review focuses on the epidemiological status of the disease, target organ damage, and methods to improve detection rates, aiming to raise awareness of this condition.
