Abstract:Cardiotoxicity related to tumor treatment includes arrhythmia and heart failure, which is the leading cause of increased mortality among cancer survivors and has become a public social issue. Anthracycline chemotherapy drugs are a first-line treatment for various tumors, but they can induce life-threatening cardiotoxicity. Currently, due to the lack of Western medical evidence, there are no effective diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines. From the perspectives of theoretical discussion, clinical and basic research, traditional Chinese medicine has conducted research on anthracycline-induced cardiotoxicity and achieved innovative results. This review summarizes the research progress on tonic and detoxifying Chinese medicines (such as Chinese medicine extracts, preparations, and components) in improving anthracycline-induced cardiotoxicity, aiming to promote the development of the discipline of TCM prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in cancer patients.
