Clinical Evidence and Methodological Quality Analysis of the Treatment of Dilated Cardiomyopathy with Traditional Chinese Medicine

Abstract:Objective:To summarize and analyze the basic characteristics of the published clinical literatures of traditional Chinese medicine decoctions,traditional Chinese medicine preparations,oral traditional Chinese patent medicines,and traditional Chinese medicine injections for the treatment of dilated cardiomyopathy(DCM),and to conduct methodological quality evaluation according to the types of clinical study.Methods:The clinical literature for the treatment of DCM with traditional Chinese medicine was searched from the establishment of the database to July 1,2023.According to the type of research,mainly including randomized controlled clinical trials(RCT),non-randomized controlled trials(NRCT),cohort studies,case-control studies,and case series reports,the methodological quality was evaluated respectively using the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool,Methodological Index for Non-randomized Studies(MINORS)scale,the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale(NOS),the Institute of Health Economics(IHE)Case Series Evaluation Tool,and the AMSTAR2 scale.Results:The quality of the 198 included literatures of the treatment of DCM with traditional Chinese medicine varied considerably,with overall low quality.Conclusion:Based on shortcomings in the study types,study designs,implementation plans,and literature reporting of clinical study of DCM with traditional Chinese medicine,the literatures showed adhered to rigor,standardization and rationality to provide evidence-based medical evidence for the treatment of DCM with traditional Chinese medicine
