Abstract:The basilar artery is a major vessel in the brain, and its branches within the cranial cavity mainly supply blood to the spinal cord, brainstem, cerebellum, and posterior part of the diencephalon. Ischemic stroke caused by basilar artery occlusion has a high mortality and disability rate, and the risk of reperfusion is relatively high. In recent years, with the rise of endovascular treatment, endovascular treatment after basilar artery occlusion has become a focus of clinical research. This paper summarizes various research results on the time window for endovascular treatment in patients with basilar artery occlusion, aiming to determine the optimal treatment time window and maximize the prognosis of patients with basilar artery occlusion.
