Clinical Study on the Efficacy of Jianpi Huatan Formula in Treating Patients with Coronary Heart Disease and Uncontrolled Blood Lipids Accompanied by Phlegm-dampness Obstruction Syndrome

Abstract：Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of Jianpi Huatan Decoction in treating patients with coronary heart disease and uncontrolled lipid levels with phlegm-damp obstruction syndrome. Methods: A total of 80 inpatients with coronary heart disease and uncontrolled lipid levels with phlegm-damp obstruction syndrome were selected from the Department of Cardiology at Qingpu District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Shanghai. They were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group. The control group was treated with atorvastatin, while the treatment group received Jianpi Huatan Decoction combined with atorvastatin for 8 consecutive weeks. The changes in TCM phlegm-damp syndrome symptom scores, angina pectoris symptom scores, and lipid indicators were compared before and after treatment. Results: Compared with before treatment, both groups showed significant decreases in TCM phlegm-damp syndrome symptom scores, angina pectoris symptom scores, total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C) levels (P < 0.05). In the treatment group, lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] levels decreased significantly compared to before treatment (P < 0.05), while HDL-C levels remained largely unchanged. After treatment, the treatment group showed significant reductions in TCM phlegm-damp syndrome symptom scores, angina pectoris symptom scores, and serum TC, LDL-C, and non-HDL-C levels (P < 0.05). Additionally, the TCM phlegm-damp syndrome symptom scores and lipid control rate in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Jianpi Huatan Decoction can effectively reduce TCM phlegm-damp syndrome symptom scores and angina pectoris symptom scores, further lower lipid levels, and improve the lipid control rate in patients with coronary heart disease and uncontrolled lipid levels with phlegm-damp obstruction syndrome, demonstrating safety and effectiveness.
