Research Progress on Inflammatory Mechanisms of Atherosclerosis

Abstract：Atherosclerosis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory disease, and the inflammatory process runs throughout the lesion. Like other inflammatory responses, the inflammatory process in AS involves many inflammatory cells and cytokines with different functions. This review focuses on the functions of immune cell subsets, cytokines, and chemokines, and summarizes the recent advances in the study of inflammatory mechanisms in AS, providing a basis and new targets for anti-inflammatory treatment.
