Abstract:This paper reviews the research progress on the chemical components and active ingredients against myocardial ischemia and hypoxia in sea buckthorn. Sea buckthorn is a medicinal and edible plant belonging to the Rosales order and Elaeagnaceae family, with wide applications and as an important raw material for various Chinese patent medicines. The main physiological activities in sea buckthorn are attributed to phenolic compounds, which are divided into flavonoids and phenolic acids. Phenolic compounds have multiple biological activities such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant stress, and cardiomyocyte protection. Sea buckthorn is an important drug for treating myocardial ischemia and hypoxia, and sea buckthorn and its extracts have shown extensive cardiovascular pharmacological effects through mechanisms such as antioxidant activity and inhibition of inflammatory responses. Sea buckthorn has a high content of flavonoids, which can regulate enzyme activity and have good antioxidant stress functions. These functions are involved in the anti-ischemia and hypoxia effects of sea buckthorn, promoting and enriching its application in the treatment of ischemic heart disease.
