Abstract:This paper reviews the research progress on the relationship between intestinal probiotics and coronary heart disease. The state of gut microbiota plays an irreplaceable role in the development of coronary heart disease. Imbalances in the gut microecology can lead to disturbances in the microbial structure, interfere with host cell metabolism, and subsequently result in coronary heart disease. Intake of probiotics can reduce total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, thereby lowering the risk of coronary heart disease. Certain probiotics can inhibit the reabsorption of bile acids carrying cholesterol in the liver and have the ability to excrete cholesterol from the blood through feces. The gut microbiota can maintain homeostasis in the body through various metabolic pathways and play an important role in the secondary prevention of coronary heart disease.
