Abstract:Objective:Systematically evaluate the distribution of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndromes in atrial fibrillation in China, and understand the distribution patterns of these syndromes. Methods:China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database(VIP),Wanfang databases(WF),and China Biology Medicine(SinoMed)were searched to collect information on the basic characteristics of patients with atrial fibrillation(AF)and TCM syndromes in China. The search period was from January 2010 to February 2024.Two researchers independently screened the literature, extracted the data, and cross-checked each other according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria.Statistical analysis was conducted using STATA 12 software. Results:A total of 32 articles were included, involving 7 405 patients. The results of the Meta-analysis showed that the frequency of TCM syndromes in 7,405 patients, from highest to lowest, was as follows:Qi deficiency and blood stasis 0.30(95%CI 0.25-0.35),Qi and Yin deficiency 0.28(95%CI 0.24-0.32),phlegm and stasis syndromes 0.25(95%CI 0.19-0.30),Qi stagnation and blood stasis certificate 0.25(95%CI 0.14-0.36),cardiac vein stasis and obstruction certificate 0.22(95%CI 0.18-0.26),phlegm and turbid obstruction certificate 0.20(95%CI 0.14-0.26),cardiac blood insufficiency certificate 0.16(95%CI 0.07-0.25),and cardiac deficiency and timidity certificate 0.15(95%CI 0.09-0.20),heart-spleen deficiency 0.14(95%CI 0.11-0.17),heart-yang insufficiency 0.14(95%CI 0.10-0.17),liver-kidney yin deficiency 0.12(95%CI 0.10-0.13),and water-drinking overriding the heart 0.11(95%CI 0.08-0.13),heart and kidney yang deficiency evidence 0.10(95%CI 0.04-0.16),and yin deficiency and fire exuberance evidence 0.09(95%CI 0.07-0.11).The results of subgroup analysis showed that the frequency of distribution of TCM syndromes in the northern region of China for Qi deficiency and blood stasis syndromes,Qi and Yin deficiency syndromes, phlegm and blood stasis syndromes,Qi stagnation and blood stasis syndromes, stagnation of the heart and veins syndromes, and phlegm and turbid obstruction syndromes were 0.32(95%CI 0.27-0.37),0.28(95%CI 0.20-0.35),and 0.26(95%CI 0.18-0.35),respectively,0.20(95%CI 0.04-0.36),0.21(95%CI 0.19-0.23),and 0.20(95%CI 0.10-0.30);and in the South,0.20(95%CI 0.13-0.27),0.27(95%CI 0.23-0.30),and 0.22(95%CI 0.15-0.29),0.29(95%CI 0.24-0.34),0.23(95%CI 0.18-0.29),0.20(95%CI 0.13-0.27).The differences in the above high prevalence of syndromes were statistically significant between regions(P<0.05).Conclusion:Qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome,Qi and Yin deficiency syndrome, phlegm and blood stasis syndrome,Qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome, cardiac stasis syndrome, and phlegm and turbid obstruction syndrome were the main TCM syndromes in patients with atrial fibrillation in China, and there were significant differences in the distribution of TCM syndromes among different regions.
