Abstract:Objective:To observe the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine constitution of elderly hypertension patients and their complications in community by palm-type Chinese medicine meridian detector. Methods:The traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)constitution of elderly hypertension patients was detected by a TCM meridian detector, and its characteristics were analyzed by univariate analysis, multivariate logistic regression, and the Hosmer-Lemeshow goodness-of-fit test. Results:A total of 1 122 elderly patients with hypertension were included, including seven types of single constitution and 19 kinds of compound constitution.Logistic regression analysis showed that TCM constitution was closely related to the types of chronic diseases accompanying it.Further analysis showed that blood stasis,Qi stagnation, dampness and heat,Yin deficiency, and phlegm-dampness were influencing factors in chronic diseases among patients with hypertension. After controlling for confounding factors, blood stasis,Qi stagnation, and damp-heat remained significant factors associated with coronary heart disease and stroke. Conclusion:The traditional Chinese medicine constitution characteristics of elderly hypertension patients,as observed by a palm-type Chinese medicine meridian detector, can provide more effective guidance for the prevention and treatment of hypertension and its complications, and further improve the efficiency and effectiveness of chronic disease management in the elderly.
