Abstract:The theory of traditional Chinese medicine states that 'the kidney governs water,' and sufficient yang qi in the kidney can warm and promote the movement of body fluids, maintaining normal fluid metabolism. Aquaporins (AQPs) are membrane channel proteins that control the entry and exit of water from cells. AQPs are abundantly present in the kidneys, and different expressions of these proteins play varying roles in fluid metabolism. Throughout history, medical practitioners have often used the method of warming the kidney yang and promoting diuresis to treat heart failure, with significant therapeutic effects. Therefore, this study explores the preventive and therapeutic effects of the Wenyang Lishui method in heart failure by regulating aquaporins based on the theory of 'kidney governs water'.
