Abstract:Objective: To compare and analyze the differences in TCM constitution and risk factors among patients with dyslipidemia of different body mass index (BMI), and to explore the correlation between constitution and risk factors. Methods: Patients who were hospitalized at Dongzhimen Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine from January 2021 to March 2022 and voluntarily participated in the survey and met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected as the study subjects. They were divided into H-BMI case group and H-BMI control group, L-BMI case group and L-BMI control group according to BMI and lipid levels. Lipid levels of the study subjects were collected, and risk factors and TCM constitution were investigated. SPSS 25.0 software was used for statistical description, testing, and regression analysis. Results: In the L-BMI case group, the proportion of yin deficiency constitution (41.7%) was the highest among patients with hypercholesterolemia; in patients with hypertriglyceridemia, low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and high low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), yin deficiency constitution had the highest proportion, which were 48.8%, 35.9% and 37.9%, respectively. In the H-BMI case group, phlegm-damp constitution (48.8%) was the most common in patients with hypercholesterolemia; in patients with hypertriglyceridemia, low HDL-C and high LDL-C, phlegm-damp constitution had the highest proportion, which were 43.9%, 45.7% and 38.5%, respectively. A family history of hypertension [OR=3.060, 95% CI (1.123, 8.341)] was an independent risk factor for yin deficiency constitution in L-BMI individuals (P<0.05), and alcohol consumption [OR=3.149, 95% CI (1.081, 9.177)] was an independent risk factor for phlegm-damp constitution in H-BMI individuals (P<0.05). Conclusion: There are significant differences in risk factors and TCM constitution among patients with dyslipidemia of different BMI, and there is a certain correlation between TCM constitution and risk factors.
