Effect of Yiqi Huoxue Huayu Recipe Combined with Empagliflozin on Coronary Heart Disease Complicated with Type 2 Diabetes and Its Influence on MMP-2,TIMP-1,and hs-CRP

Abstract：Objective: To investigate the efficacy of Yiqi Huoxue Huayu Formula combined with empaglizide in the treatment of coronary heart disease with type 2 diabetes mellitus, and its effects on the levels of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1), and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP). Methods: A total of 140 patients with coronary heart disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Shaanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from June 2021 to January 2023 were selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group using a random number table method, with 70 cases in each group. The control group received empaglizide combined with conventional treatment, while the observation group received Yiqi Huoxue Huayu Formula on top of the treatment in the control group. The clinical efficacy, TCM syndrome scores, fasting plasma glucose (FPG), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), peak diastolic flow velocity, peak systolic flow velocity, left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD), left ventricular end-systolic diameter (LVESD), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), MMP-2, TIMP-1, tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), hs-CRP, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: The clinical efficacy of the observation group was better than that of the control group. FPG, HbA1c, TC, TG, LVEDD, LVESD, MMP-2, TNF-α, IL-6, hs-CRP, and TCM syndrome scores were significantly lower in the observation group compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Peak diastolic flow velocity, peak systolic flow velocity, HDL-C, LVEF, and TIMP-1 were significantly higher in the observation group compared to the control group (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Yiqi Huoxue Huayu Formula combined with empaglizide shows good therapeutic effects in the treatment of coronary heart disease with type 2 diabetes mellitus, effectively controls serum MMP-2 and hs-CRP levels, and promotes TIMP-1 expression.
