Abstract:Hypertension in the elderly is a common chronic cardiovascular disease, characterized by elevated systolic blood pressure, large blood pressure fluctuations, comorbidities, and polypharmacy. With the gradual shift of geriatric medicine from a disease-centered to a health-centered approach, frailty, as a non-specific state of decline in physiological function and physical capacity, has become an important concept for describing the complex pathological conditions and multidimensional health dynamics of the elderly. Recent guidelines and consensus statements, along with emerging clinical evidence, highlight the need for further understanding of the prevention and treatment of this condition. This study systematically organizes, summarizes, and discusses the literature on the integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicine for hypertension in the elderly with frailty, aiming to provide insights and references for future researchers.
