Abstract:Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of acupoint external counterpulsation in the treatment of heart failure with insomnia of Qi-Yin deficiency and blood stasis syndrome. Methods: A total of 60 patients with heart failure hospitalized in the Department of Cardiology, Hebei Hengshui Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from October 2021 to October 2022 were selected. They were divided into treatment group and control group according to the order of admission, with 30 cases in each group. The control group received conventional Western medical treatment, while the treatment group received acupoint external counterpulsation in addition to the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated continuously for 14 days. The scores of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome, clinical efficacy, Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), and serum N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the scores of five main symptoms (chest tightness, palpitations, irritability, shortness of breath, fatigue) and five secondary symptoms (thirst, edema in lower limbs, excessive sweating, insomnia, dark purple lips) in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the total effective rate of the treatment group was 96.67%, higher than 80.00% in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the MLHFQ, PSQI scores, and serum NT-proBNP levels in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05), while LVEF was higher in the treatment group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Acupoint external counterpulsation has a good clinical effect in treating patients with heart failure and insomnia of Qi-Yin deficiency and blood stasis syndrome. From the perspective of the theory of "meridian disease", it can improve the pathogenesis by regulating the axis of "acupoint-meridian-qi-blood-pulse-viscera", thereby improving cardiac function and alleviating insomnia symptoms.
