Abstract:Persistent symptoms after infection with the novel coronavirus still exist, involving multiple systems in the body, among which circulatory system symptoms are typical. The pathogenesis is not yet clear, and patients often present with palpitations, fatigue, chest tightness, and even chest pain. Currently, there is no specific drug that shows good efficacy in treating 'long COVID' symptoms. Traditional Chinese medicine physical exercises, including Baduanjin (Eight Pieces of Brocade), Tai Chi, and the 'Six Character Formula' breathing method, have the advantages of low economic cost and simplicity in learning. These traditional exercises can significantly improve lung function and activity tolerance, and alleviate symptoms such as palpitations and chest tightness. Combined with previous experience in cardiac rehabilitation, it is considered that traditional Chinese medicine physical exercises may improve long-term persistent symptoms in the circulatory system after infection with the novel coronavirus. Based on this perspective, this review summarizes the potential effects of traditional physical exercises in improving long-term circulatory system symptoms after infection with the novel coronavirus.
