Abstract:Objective: To explore the effect of sacubitril/valsartan on recurrence and cardiac function after radiofrequency ablation in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation and heart failure. Methods: A total of 120 patients with persistent atrial fibrillation and heart failure who underwent their first radiofrequency ablation between January 2021 and May 2022 at The First Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical University were selected and divided into an experimental group and a control group, each with 60 cases. The control group received conventional treatment including anticoagulation and antiarrhythmic therapy, while the experimental group received oral sacubitril/valsartan on top of the control group's treatment. Both groups received continuous treatment for 6 months. Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), left ventricular end-systolic diameter (LVESD), and left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD) were measured before and after treatment. After surgery, follow-up was conducted for 6 months to compare the recurrence rates of atrial fibrillation between the two groups. Results: After treatment, LVEF was significantly higher than before treatment (P < 0.05), while LVESD and LVEDD were significantly reduced (P < 0.05). After treatment, LVEF in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05), while LVESD and LVEDD were smaller (P < 0.05). At 2 and 6 months of follow-up, the recurrence rate of atrial fibrillation in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Oral administration of sacubitril/valsartan after radiofrequency ablation in patients with persistent atrial fibrillation and heart failure can effectively prevent recurrence of atrial fibrillation and improve cardiac function.
