Abstract:Objective: To investigate the relationship between preoperative neuropeptide Y (NPY) and the occurrence of electrical storm after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Methods: From January 2019 to December 2022, patients with AMI who were scheduled for PCI treatment were selected as the study subjects. According to the occurrence of electrical storm within 24 hours after PCI, the patients were divided into the electrical storm group and the non-electrical storm group. Relevant patient data, preoperative serum NPY levels, and other laboratory indicators were collected. Logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the impact of preoperative serum NPY and other main indicators on the occurrence of electrical storm after PCI in AMI patients. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to analyze the predictive value of preoperative serum NPY for the occurrence of electrical storm after PCI in AMI patients. Results: A total of 296 patients completed the study, among whom 27 (9.12%) experienced electrical storm within 24 hours after PCI. The Killip classification of heart function at admission was higher in the electrical storm group compared to the non-electrical storm group, with a statistically significant difference (P < 0.05). The preoperative serum NPY, creatine kinase isoenzyme (CK-MB), and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) levels were higher in the electrical storm group than in the non-electrical storm group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that high preoperative serum NPY and CK-MB levels were independent risk factors for the occurrence of electrical storm after PCI in AMI patients (P < 0.05). The ROC curve showed that the area under the curve for preoperative serum NPY in predicting the occurrence of electrical storm after PCI in AMI patients was 0.759 [95% CI (0.658, 0.861)], indicating certain predictive value. Conclusion: High preoperative serum NPY level is an independent risk factor for the occurrence of electrical storm after PCI in AMI patients and can serve as an auxiliary indicator for early clinical prediction of the risk of electrical storm after PCI.
