Abstract:Objective: To investigate the expression levels of serum histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3) and high mobility group A2 (HMGA2) in elderly patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) and their relationship with prognosis. Methods: A total of 185 CHF patients admitted to our hospital from January 2017 to January 2020 were selected as the CHF group, and 185 healthy individuals undergoing physical examination during the same period were selected as the control group. The levels of serum HDAC3 and HMGA2 were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between serum HDAC3 and HMGA2 levels and heart function classification. Logistic regression analysis was used to identify factors affecting adverse prognosis in CHF patients. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to evaluate the predictive value of serum HDAC3 and HMGA2 levels for the prognosis of CHF patients. Results: Compared with the control group, the serum levels of HDAC3 and HMGA2 were significantly increased in the CHF group (P < 0.05). There was a significant difference in serum HDAC3 and HMGA2 levels among CHF patients with different heart function classifications, with the IV stage being higher than the III stage, which was higher than the II stage (P < 0.05). Spearman correlation analysis showed that serum HDAC3 and HMGA2 levels were positively correlated with heart function classification (P < 0.05). The serum levels of HDAC3 and HMGA2 were higher in the adverse prognosis group compared to the favorable prognosis group. Logistic regression analysis showed that both HDAC3 and HMGA2 were risk factors for adverse prognosis in CHF patients (P < 0.05). ROC curve analysis showed that the combined prediction of serum HDAC3 and HMGA2 levels had better efficacy in predicting the prognosis of CHF patients compared to single indicators of HDAC3 or HMGA2 (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The expression levels of serum HDAC3 and HMGA2 are abnormally elevated in CHF patients and are closely related to their prognosis.
