Research Progress of Bupleurum Prescription in Treatment of Hypertension

Abstract：Hypertension is a chronic disease characterized by sustained elevation of blood pressure, which remains above the normal range for a long time. It is one of the most important risk factors for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and may be accompanied by clinical syndromes of functional or structural damage to organs such as the heart, brain, and kidneys, affecting patients' physical and mental health, work, and life. The Chaihu formula is a group of prescriptions recorded in the 'Treatise on Cold Damage Disorders'. Many physicians have used Chaihu formulas to treat hypertension clinically, with significant efficacy, and they have the effects of harmonizing the lesser yang, regulating the flow of qi, and balancing the circulation of blood and qi. These include formulas such as Xiaochaihu Decoction, Dachaihu Decoction, Chaihuguijiganning Decoction, and Chaihu Jia Longgu Muli Decoction. This study summarizes the clinical application of Chaihu formulas in the treatment of hypertension, aiming to provide a more comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic approach for the clinical use of Chaihu formulas in treating hypertension.
