Abstract:Objective:Using Nine-Constitution Medicine as a theoretical guide to observe the distribution characteristics of Chinese medicine constitution and related factors in the pre-hypertensive population. Methods:The 500 cases originating from 8 sub-central hospitals with physical examination showing prehypertension were identified by traditional Chinese medicine constitution, and Logistic regression were used to analyze the correlation between biased traditional Chinese medicine constitution and gender, age, body mass index(BMI),family history, lifestyle, psychological factors, and biochemical index in the pre-hypertensive population. Results:A total of 499 cases of prehypertension were collected,69 cases with mild constitution and 430 cases with biased constitution. In biased constitution,156 cases were single constitution and 274 cases were composite constitution. In the prehypertensive population, the phlegm-dampness constitution was the most prevalent(288 cases),followed by Qi deficiency constitution(196 cases),Yang deficiency constitution(190 cases),Yin deficiency constitution(171 cases),Qi-stagnation constitution(156 cases),blood stasis constitution(138 cases),dampness-heat constitution(128 cases),allergic constitution(94 cases),and mild constitution(69 cases).Females showed more composite constitution than males, and more Qi deficiency constitution,Yang deficiency constitution,Yin deficiency constitution,Qi-stagnation constitution, and blood stasis constitution(P<0.05).BMI was a risk factor for phlegm-dampness constitution and damp-heat constitution, and allergic constitution was closely related to the history of allergy and family history of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. The higher the number of people with Qi depression constitution and combined constitutions, the higher the scores on the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7(GAD-7)and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9),and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Pre-hypertensive people often showed a biased constitution, with phlegm-dampness constitution accounting for the highest proportion. The composite constitution is widely distributed and shows gender differences.Mental health needs to be addressed in pre-hypertensive individuals with multiple composite constitutions and Qi-stagnation constitution.
