Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effect of sequential Baduanjin on left ventricular remodeling in patients after emergency percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Methods: A total of 108 patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) who underwent emergency PCI at Liuzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from July 2021 to December 2022 were selected as the study subjects. All cases were randomly divided into a rehabilitation group and a control group, with 54 patients in each group. Both groups received emergency PCI and conventional clinical treatment, while the rehabilitation group also received a sequential Baduanjin cardiac rehabilitation program. The left ventricular remodeling indicators, heart function, inflammatory and oxidative stress markers, and the incidence of major adverse cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results: After treatment, the left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD), left ventricular end-systolic diameter (LVESD), left ventricular end-diastolic volume (LVEDV), and left ventricular end-systolic volume (LVESV) in the rehabilitation group were significantly lower than those before treatment and after treatment in the control group, while the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was significantly higher than that before treatment and after treatment in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of homocysteine (Hcy), interleukin-6 (IL-6), matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in the rehabilitation group were significantly lower than those before treatment and after treatment in the control group, while superoxide dismutase (SOD) was significantly higher than that before treatment and after treatment in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). After treatment, there was no statistically significant difference between the rehabilitation group and the control group in terms of cerebral infarction, angina attack, reinfarction, target vessel revascularization, cardiac death, and all-cause mortality (P > 0.05), but the overall incidence of MACCE in the rehabilitation group was significantly lower than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Implementing sequential Baduanjin exercise rehabilitation for patients after PCI for AMI can improve left ventricular remodeling and early prognosis, possibly through anti-inflammatory and antioxidant stress pathways.
