Abstract:Objective: To explore the distribution pattern of the six meridian syndromes in patients with primary hypertension. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on the clinical data of 118 patients with primary hypertension, based on the six meridian syndrome differentiation method to investigate the distribution pattern of the six meridian syndromes. The correlation between the six meridian syndromes and gender, age, duration of disease, and common comorbidities was analyzed statistically. Results: The prevalence rate of male patients was slightly higher than that of female patients; the middle-aged group had the highest number of cases; the duration of disease for 1-5 years was the most common; the most common tongue appearance was red tongue with thin white coating, and the most common pulse condition was fine and taut pulse. In terms of the distribution of the six meridian syndromes, the frequency from highest to lowest was as follows: Shaoyang syndrome, Taiyin syndrome, Shaoyin cold transformation syndrome, Shaoyin heat transformation syndrome, Jueyin syndrome, Taiyang syndrome, and Yangming syndrome. The most common combination was two meridians involved, among which Shaoyang-Shaoyin combination had the highest frequency, followed by Shaoyang-Taiyin combination. Only five cases of three-meridian involvement were found. Analysis showed that the incidence of Jueyin syndrome was higher in females than in males; younger people were more likely to exhibit symptoms of Taiyang syndrome, while the incidence of Shaoyang and Yangming syndromes increased with age. Patients with cerebral infarction were more prone to develop Shaoyin cold transformation syndrome. Conclusion: All six meridian syndromes can appear in clinical practice for patients with primary hypertension. Two-meridian combinations were more common than single-meridian diseases, while three-meridian involvement was rare, and no cases of more than three meridians involved were observed. Six meridian syndrome differentiation is a feasible method for diagnosing and treating primary hypertension, with Shaoyang syndrome, Shaoyang-Shaoyin combination, and Shaoyang-Taiyin combination being the most common starting points for treatment.
