Effect of Acupuncture on Ambulatory Blood Pressure of Essential Hypertension:a Meta-analysis

Abstract：Objective:To systematically evaluate the effect acupuncture on ambulatory blood pressure of essential hypertension.Methods:PubMed,EMbase,Web of Science Database,China Biomedical Literature Database,VIP Database,WanFang Database,and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure Database from the database establishment to December 31,2020 were researched.Randomized controlled trials of acupuncture in adjusting ambulatory blood pressure of essential hypertension were collected according to predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria,the methodological quality assessment of the literature was evaluated using the Cochrane system,and Meta-analysis was performed on extracted data from the included literature by ReviewManager 5.3 software.Results:A total of 18 literatures were included,including 1 655 patients.Meta-analysis results showed that compared with the control group,24 h mean systolic blood pressure(SMD=-2.06,95%CI-2.90--1.23,P<0.000 01),24 h mean diastolic blood pressure(SMD=-3.25,95%CI-4.23--2.16,P<0.000 01),daytime mean systolic blood pressure(SMD=-2.61,95%CI-3.82--1.40,P<0.000 1),daytime mean diastolic blood pressure(SMD=-4.79,95%CI-6.01--3.57,P<0.000 01),and nocturnal mean systolic blood pressure(SMD=-2.74,95%CI-3.49--1.99,P<0.000 01),mean nocturnal diastolic blood pressure(SMD=-2.20,95%CI-3.12--1.27,P<0.000 01),morning peak blood pressure(SMD=-0.90,95%CI-1.56--0.23,P=0.008),and daytime systolic blood pressure load(SMD=-7.23,95%CI-11.44--3.02,P =0.000 8),and nocturnal systolic blood pressure load(SMD=-3.42,95%CI-4.96--1.87,P<0.000 1),nocturnal diastolic blood pressure load(SMD=-4.01,95%CI-5.89--2.14,P<0.000 1)in the experimental group were lower.Conclusion:The current evidence showed that acupuncture therapy could adjust ambulatory blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension
