The Influence of Qili Qiangxin Capsule on Plasma BNP and CRP Levels in Patients with Chronic Renal Insufficiency Complicated with Chronic Systolic Heart Failure

Abstract：Objective To investigate the effect of Qili Qiangxin capsule (QQC) on plasma brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in patients with chronic systolic heart failure complicated with chronic renal insufficiency.Methods One hundred patients with chronic systolic heart failure complicated with chronic renal insufficiency were randomly divided into two groups:control group (n =50) treated with routine treatment,and treatment group (n =50) treated with routine treatment plus QQC for 2 months.The levels of plasma BNP,CRP,and the changes of renal function and cardiac function were observed before and after treatment.Results After 2 months of treatment,the total clinical effective rate was significantly higher in treatment group than that in control group (82％ vs 64％,x2=8.219,P =0.004).Before treatment,there was no difference in the levels of plasma BNP and CRP between two groups (P ＞0.05).The levels of plasma CRP and BNP were decreased in two groups after treatment,which was lower in treatment group than that in control group (P ＜0.05).Before treatment,there was no difference in cardiac function between two groups (P ＞0.05).Left vertricular end diastolic volum(LVEDV),left vertricular end systolic volume(LVESV),left vertricular end diastolic diameter(LVEDd) were decreased while left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was increased in two groups after treatment (P ＜0.05).The cardiac function were better in treatment group than that in control group.Before treatment,there was no difference in renal function between two groups (P ＞0.05).Serum creatinine,blood urea nitrogen levels were decreased in two groups after treatment,but there was no difference in renal function between two groups.Corclusion QQC can reduce the levels of plasma BNP and CRP in patients with chronic systolic heart failure complicated with chronic renal insufficiency.
