Abstract:Objective To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of modified Suanzaoren decoction in the treatment of insomnia. Methods Retrieved from PubMed,Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI),VIP database, and Wanfang database,A comprehensive search strategy was designed to identify all rendomized controlled trials (RCTs) about the efficacy of modified Suanzaoren decoction in the treatment of insomnia. Then the literatures were qualified evaluation by Cochrane risk of bias tool.A metaanalysis was performed by Rev Man5.3 software. Results Thirty RCTs from China met the inclusion criteria.Compared with the control group, the effective rate in modified Suanzaoren decoction was significantly higher to insomnia [odds ratios (OR) =2.94,95% confidence interval (CI) (2.37,3.66),P <0.000 01].A similar symmetry pattern was seen in the funnel chart. The scores of Spiegel sleep quality scales were significantly higher than that in control group [standandardized mean difference (SMD) =0.85,95% CI (0.19,1.50),P =0.01].The scores of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) decreased [SMD =-1.38,95% CI (-1.90,-0.86),P <0.000 01].Conclusion Modified Suanzaoren decoction could improve the sleep quality in patients with insomnia. The above conclusion still need to be further verified by more high-quality studies.
