Abstract:Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of soothing liver qi and regulating qi-stagnation therapies (Shugan Jieyu method) in the treatment of post-stroke depression (PSD).Methods The randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of Shugan Jieyu method for PSD were selected. The patients were treated with Chinese medicine Shugan Jieyu method as control group, and the patients were treated with western medicine as experimental group. The heterogeneity test,Meta-analysis,sensitivity analysis,Funnel map analysis and other related statistical analysis were conducted by RevMan 5.3 software. Results Thirteen studies met the inclusion criteria, including 975 patients.Analysis of the frequency of the use of traditional Chinese medicine (Bupleurum, turmeric,Cyperus rotundus, dried tangerine peel,Qingpi,Chuanxiong,Albizzia, etc.) was conducted.Meta analysis showed that Shugan Jieyu method for treatment of PSD had significant advantages in the total effective rate, reduce adverse reactions compared with western medicine,RR =1.11,95% CI[1.05,1.17],P =0.000 01.Sensitivity analysis suggested that the results were better in stability.Chinese medicine with functions of soothing liver-qi and regulating qi-stagnation had less adverse reactions. The funnel analysis showed asymmetry. Conclusion The available evidence suggests that Shugan Jieyu method for the treatment of PSD is better and safer, but due to the higher risk of bias in the study,it is necessary to carry out the test of sufficient sample size, reasonable design and strict clinical trial.
