Abstract:Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect and related mechanism of compound Danshen dripping pill (CDDP) and conventional antiepileptic therapy in treatment of traumatic epilepsy. Methods One hundred and forty patients with traumatic epilep sy in our hospital from March 2012 to May 2015 were selected and randomly divided into two groups:control group (n =70) treated with routine antiepileptic western medicine, and treatment group (n =70) treated with CDDP and routine antiepileptic western medicine for 6 months. The therapeutic effects, serum tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α),interleukin-6 (IL-6),creactive protein (CRP) levels were observed before and after treatment. Results The total clinical effective rate was significantly higher in treatment group than that in control group (88.57% vs 74.29%,P <0.05).After treatment, the levels of serum TNF-α,IL-6 and CRP were significantly decreased in two groups, which were significantly lower in treatment group than that in control group (P <0.05).After treatment, the level of,total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC),nitric oxide (NO) in treatment group was significantly higher than that in control group (P <0.05).The level of malondialdehyde (MDA) was significantly lower in treatment group than that in control group (P <0.05).Conclusion CDDP and conventional antiepileptic therapy can effectively improve the clinical symptoms in patients with traumatic epilepsy, and the related mechanism may be related to antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
