Clinical Observation on Qianyang Decoction in the Treatment of Stage 1 Primary Hypertension with Yang Hyperactivity and Yin Deficiency Syndrome

Abstract：Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of Qianyang decoction in treating stage 1 primary hypertension with yang hyperactivity and yin deficiency syndrome,and provide clinical evidences for treating primary hypertension with yang hyperactivity and yin deficiency syndrome.Methods One hundred and twenty patients with stage 1 primary hypertension with yang hyperactivity and yin deficiency syndrome were randomly divided into two groups:control group (n =60) treated with perindopril,and testing group (n =60) treated with Qiangyang decoction for 3 month.The Scores of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome,24-hours dynamic blood pressure index (24-hours average blood pressure,daytime blood pressure,nighttime blood pressure,CV of blood pressure,24-hours standard deviation of average blood pressure,and morning blood pressure),and Quality of Life Score(hypertension symptom score)were observed before and after treatment.Results The efficacy of TCM syndrome was better in testing group than that in control group (P ＜0.01).The 24-hours average blood pressure,daytime blood pressure,nighttime blood pressure,24-hours standard deviation of average systolic blood pressure and morning systolic blood pressure had significant decrease in test group after treatment compared with that before treatment(P ＜0.01).Within the test group,there was decrease in morning diastolic blood pressure after treatment as compared with that before treatment(P ＜0.05).There was not significant difference between the two groups after treatment.The life quality score(High blood pressure and symptom scores) of the testing group had significant decrease as compared with that before treatment(P ＜0.01).Conclusion Qianyang decoction is same as perindopril tables in the control of blood pressure aspect.But Qianyang decoction can significantly improve the TCM clinical symptom of stage 1 primary hypertension with yang hyperactivity and yin deficiency syndrome.It can also improve the life quality of patient with primary hypertension.
